Motive Certification & Inspection were hired to carry out a multi-scope of work during a critical 14-day docking period. Delivered by a single team, the work scope had to be completed within a small window of opportunity on-board a DSV/construction vessel.

The Challenge

Due to the ongoing COVID Pandemic, the team had to be versatile to carry out:

  • LOLER
  • Wire Rope Spooling
  • Wire Rope Electromagnetic Inspection
  • Crane Wire Rope Sample Removal
  • Re-terminations
  • Crane NDT Examination
  • Critical load path NDT of cranes and dive system annual works
  • 5 Yearly Crane Load Testing

Additionally, all crane blocks were to be removed, sent to our workshop for full 5 yearly overhaul, and returned in time for the crane testing to commence.

The Solution

Motive Certification & Inspection supplied a multi-disciplined team of 7 to carry out the complete work scope from start to finish.

At the project start, 5 crane blocks (ranging up to 200Te) were removed and returned within 10 days.

The project was managed by Motive Spooling & Inspection in Aberdeen. All equipment, procedures, and work packs were sent directly to the vessel where our team was on-site, taking ownership of the complete scope.

The work was completed within the opportunity window, with no delays. Our client was fully satisfied with the result which saw the vessel back to work within a 14-day period.
