ROPE ACCESS, WELDING & NDT MAINTENANCE SCOPE

A "One-Stop" Approach to IRATA Rope Access, Fabric Maintenance, and NDT Inspections

Overview

KEY ACTIVITIES

Replacement of nine critical diagonal segments

Extensive fabric repairs across multiple sections of the stair structure

Expert welding of primary structural components, operating in elevated and awkward-access points across the vessel

Motive Do Brasil recently completed a comprehensive structural maintenance and inspection project in Rio de Janeiro, highlighting our commitment to delivering integrated technical solutions in the offshore sector. By combining IRATA Rope Access Technicians, Fabric Maintenance and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services, our team provided a "one-stop" service that maximised efficiency and ensured the vessel remained sea-ready.

The primary scope involved critical structural repairs to the vessel’s Main Aligner Wheel (pictured above), targeting the structural support bracings and access stair supports.

Critical Structural Repairs via Rope Access

The primary scope involved essential repairs to the vessel’s main aligner stairs, specifically targeting the structural support bracings and access stair supports.

Deploying IRATA-certified rope access teams to tackle maintenance in the most challenging locations eliminates the need for heavy scaffolding, providing a faster, safer, and more cost-effective solution for structural upkeep.

Quality Assurance and NDT Inspections

To guarantee the highest standards of structural integrity, Motive mobilised a dedicated QA Engineer and a team of NDT Technicians. This expert oversight was vital for monitoring welding activities and conducting rigorous NDT inspections.

Cross-verification was also conducted on third-party repairs made to the tower clevis and tower legs, ensuring every interface met stringent safety and compliance specifications.

Asset Protection and Corrosion Control

The project concluded with a comprehensive coating procedure to the vessel's primary access systems to protect the structure and help reduce the need for intrusive maintenance in the future.

To combat the constant exposure of the offshore environment, our team applied high-performance industrial primers and paint to client specification including:

•    All newly replaced diagonals and repaired stair assemblies.
•    The Starboard AFT Tower Leg.
•    All critical interfaces requiring a uniform protective seal.

The Advantage of Integrated Solutions

By integrating Welding and NDT with our Rope Access capabilities, Motive helps clients avoid the logistical burden of managing multiple contractors.
From the initial inspection to the final protective coat, our focus remains on protecting the asset, ensuring safety, and preventing costly downtime.

Our multi-disciplinary approach ensures that structural integrity is maintained at every stage, providing our clients with a cost-effective and highly reliable solution for offshore assets.
