Here is Bella's staff story:

Tell us about your background before joining Motive?

I completed a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Chung Yuan Christian University and a dual master’s in Environomical Pathways for Sustainable Energy Systems from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden and Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands.

Before joining Motive, I worked as an ESG researcher for a green environmental engineering company. My role consisted of developing a renewable energy tracking platform, setting annual renewable electricity targets, optimising waste management, improving sustainable supply chain strategies, and ensuring that the correct criteria were met.

What has been your experience so far at Motive?

I’m currently completing a three-month internship with Motive APAC. My experience so far has involved rotating through various tasks to gain a broad understanding of the business.

•    For the first 2 months I have been understanding the PO process, contacting suppliers, learning how to prepare costing sheets, updating project information, and a client site visit.

•    For month 3, I am continuing to learn by listening and observing while gaining exposure to business strategy, competitor analysis, sales processes, and quotations.

What are your future goals?

In the next five years, I hope to secure a full-time role in operations, supply chain, or project management, ideally in a position where I can contribute to sustainability.

What does a typical day at Motive APAC look like?

A normal day usually includes Team meetings and reviewing and updating ongoing projects. Also processing POs, contacting local suppliers & conducting evaluations of critical external providers, and managing our carbon footprint tracking sheet, where I identify areas for improvement.

What's your favourite thing about working at Motive APAC?

The support has been incredible. Everyone is willing to help and share knowledge. I’ve enjoyed learning something new every day, meeting new people, and watching the team in Taiwan continue to grow.

What's the best thing you have learned?

Motive is such a positive place to work. All teams across the regions are encouraging and supportive, and no matter your role or background, everyone helps each other.
It was also my first time working with Scottish colleagues; everyone has been so welcoming, even if their accent was a bit hard to understand at first.

What has been your proudest moment/achievement since joining Motive?

My proudest moment so far has been supporting an urgent client requirement for a controlled flow excavation project. Our 5Te winch package was deployed and mobilised to the port of Taichung on the same day, and I was proud to be part of the team's effort.

Three words to describe your Motive experience.

Growth, cooperative, and rewarding.

What advice would you give to someone considering an internship in this industry?

Be proactive and take every opportunity that comes your way. Ask questions, stay curious, and don’t be afraid of challenges. Turn what you learn from books into real-world experience.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I love being outdoors, whether that’s hiking, camping in the mountains, or cycling. I’m currently training for a triathlon next year.

If you could have dinner with one person, who would it be?

Jiang Xun,  A Taiwanese Author/Poet/Painter
