What is a Centrifugal Pump?

Centrifugal Pumps have a very wide range of applications and are commonly used, popular for their high flow rate capabilities and ability to move more liquid than any other kind of pump.

Centrifugal - meaning to move away from the centre - these pumps are designed to move fluid via the transfer of rotational energy that comes from impellers (driven rotors). Fluid enters the rotating impeller along its axis and is cast out by centrifugal force along its circumference through the impeller's vane tips.

Centrifugal pumps are used in buildings for domestic water supplies and as a booster, in agriculture, petroleum and chemical pumping. The design of a centrifugal pump makes them especially useful for pumping sewage and slurries.
