As well as equipment sales, rentals and servicing, Motive Offshore Group offers a full refurbishment service globally to get your equipment looking (and working) like new.
Recently our FZE team in Dubai undertook a major project to fully refurbish a RAM AW6500GL Pneumatic Air Winch. Although mechanically sound, its exterior condition was in much need of some TLC.
Working over the past couple of months, Siedu Mamoud led the project and was assisted by Marcello Catalan and our workshop team at the Motive FZE base, to fully restore our Pneumatic Winch.
The winch was completely dismantled to component form and serviced/repaired where necessary with new gaskets and seals added during assembly. Since photographs were taken, lifting points and slings have been attached and a FAT carried out to re-commission the unit which is now available for rental or sale.
The RAM AW6500GL Pneumatic Air Winch is capable of 6Te line pull when fitted with 400 metres of 19mm wire, although this can be altered depending on amount of wire fitted.
We think you'll agree the team did a fantastic job in restoring the unit back to its former glory.
This is just one of a number of refurbishment projects carried out across the Group for our rental fleet or client equipment.
We offer full inspection and repair services and our experienced engineers can completely overhaul any marine/deck equipment, making necessary repairs and machining any components in need of replacement to get your equipment back to work whilst preserving and respecting its original foundations. We can also carry out any custom modifications as required.
Earlier this year the Motive FZE team carried out the inspection, servicing and repair of a RAM (Tugger) Winch for one of our key clients. The winch had been kept in storage since purchase and required full assessment for any damage/deterioration prior to being commissioned for use.
Initial inspection found the winch was not in an operational condition, with various parts needing replacement due to it having been stored with long-term exposure to the elements. An Emergency Lowering Handle was missing meaning the unit was not legally operational.
The winch was dismantled to facilitate the repair of machined faces and to check which parts should be taken back to bare metal to eliminate any underlying corrosion not immediately obvious under the paintwork. This included the internal brake system which was disassembled and refitted with new parts.
During reassembly of the winch and components, new seals, gaskets and fittings were applied before the winch was repainted and tested in line with RAM procedures on the test bed at Motive FZE. Testing frames were used that are manufactured for vertical pull winches against our own constant tension winch. Drum guards were not fitted until after testing to enable good observation of the drum/wire.
Following the fitting of new decals/data plates and wire spooling the winch was redelivered to our client site.
Motive are never averse to trying something new so even if your equipment falls outwith the marine / deck equipment arena, that isn't to say we can't help!
